CAMBODIA

Success Case Replication (SCR)

With 80% of Cambodians living in rural areas, most not having access to formal sector jobs, WRF coordinated a rural employment initiative in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO) based on their Success Case Replication (SCR) methodology.  This was a companion program to the BAC

SCR is apprenticeship model, whereby successful entrepreneurs mentor people with disabilities interested in pursuing careers similar to that of the mentor.

For example, trainees learn skills necessary for soymilk production, motorbike repair, hair cutting, blacksmithing, furniture making or raising chickens.  In return, the trainee agrees to train another person in that skill.  A careful market analysis is conducted to ensure that the market can support the business.

Well over 1000 persons with disabilities were served by this project, which provided not only job placement but also on-the-job training through cooperating employers.

The PACE program was built on this approach, where it was shown to be an effective and flexible model.
