With
80% of Cambodians living in rural areas and most do not have access
to formal sector jobs such as those in Phnom Penh. WRF in partnership
with the International Labour Organization coordinates a rural
employment initiative. The Success Case Replication
(SCR) project is based on an apprenticeship model, whereby successful
entrepreneurs mentor people with disabilities who are interested
in pursuing careers similar to that of the mentor. For example,
trainees are learning skills necessary for soymilk production,
motorbike repair, hair cutting or raising chickens.
Over
230 people with disabilities in Cambodia have been trained and
are now establishing small businesses through the WRF/ILO initiative.
