• The Government of Sweden funds UNDP
who recognizes WRF as Implementing Partner in carrying out psychosocial
support and vocational projects for young women affected by the
war in Sierra Leone. Local NGOs also utilize funds from other
donors including other governments in carrying out aspects of
these projects. The WRF support comes directly from UNDP who received
funds for this project primarily from the Government of Sweden.
• UNDP has selected WRF as Implementing Partner in carrying
out a pilot and planning program in the development and testing
of models for socio-economic reintegration of landmine survivors
in Cambodia, Mozambique and Lebanon. Funds were acquired by UNDP
from the UN Fund through private sources (Turner Fund).
• Funding from UNMAS supports the implementation and expansion
of the Business Advisory Council, a project initiated in Cambodia
under the guise of the Socio-economic Reintegration of Landmine
Survivors program.
• WRF received a small grant from the UN Department of Economic
and Social Affairs to allow the Medical Director of the WRF in
Uganda to study aspects of rehabilitation in the US and to develop
and test a rehabilitation medicine service delivery model for
Uganda.
• In-kind contributions have routinely been provided by
governments in collaborating with WRF in carrying out its various
programs. However, estimates are not available to precisely document
this contribution. Especially significant was the in-kind contribution
of the government of Uganda in providing support for the rehabilitation
of amputees. In Sierra Leone the government has provided assistance
in the vocational training project for adolescent females. Government
officials regularly participate in meetings in Cambodia and Mozambique.
In Mozambique government officials have consulted and participated
in projects particularly concerning the strengthening of governmental
agencies and rehabilitation programs.
